Last night I found myself listening to some old school RnB. You know, from the days gone by when music was still real and you could actually hear what they were singing ๐Ÿ˜. I was actually quite shook that I hadn’t done an RnB #MusicMondaysWithDimples post yet. How?? But fear not. Today is the first day of a four part series of my favourite RnB songs. Today I will be sharing my favourite RnB male groups, next Monday we will focus on the female groups, then my fave solo male artists and then last but by no mean least, the ladies.

I think you’ll agree with me when I say old school RnB is the business. That music still bangs hard today. Harder than most of the new “music” we have nowadays in my opinion. From the lyrics, the dances, the voices, the instruments. Everything was just on point. That music is timeless really. I can see myself still jamming to it in my 80s ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

So, without further ado, let’s dive into my top 10 male RnB groups of all time. Enjoy!

Dru Hill

You really can’t talk about RnB without mentioning Dru Hill. You just can’t. These guys were the sh*t. In fact, sometime later, I’ll do a post focusing on them. I also love, love how extra Sisqo was in every video lol.

Boyz 2 Men

During it’s time, this song was sooo overplayed on radio to the point of it getting annoying. It’s still a classic though and I love it!

Jagged Edge

Jagged Edge is probably in my top 3 favourite RnB groups. Love love them!

Not sure what happened to these guys. The few songs they made were great. I don’t know why their career was so short lived ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ

New Edition

The Kaaangs of RnB! I had to try really hard just to post one song only for the purposes of this particular post. Come to think of it, I haven’t watched that New Edition biopic. Has anyone watched it? Is it any good?

Also, Ralph is looking fine AF AF AF in this video! He could geeet it!

I remember when this song first came out, I was still in junior school. My peers and I were absolutely horrified at the lyrics๐Ÿ˜ . We just couldn’t understand how anyone could sing such. Little did we know in 2019 we’d have soft porn masquerading as music videos. **Sigh**

This song. Love it! It was one of my faves for such a long time.

K-Ci & Jojo

The best RnB duo! Periodttt!!

Just like Dru-Hill and New Edition, you CANNOT talk about the best RnB music without talking about these two. You just can’t!

Room 112 is one of my most favourite albums ever. It’s one of those where you can listen to the entire thing over and over without skipping a song. Love it!

Most of the boys in junior school thought they were part of Jodeci ๐Ÿ˜. I remember some of their lyrics being used in “love letters” which were obviously read out loud in class for all to hear! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

You have NO idea how much fun I had putting this post together. I know I left out A LOT of other great groups but I really did want to stick to ten only. Who are your favourite “old school” RnB male groups?

Next Monday we have the ladies! Let me know in the comments section which of your faves you would want featured. Until then, toodles! ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿพ
