Outlet: Garfunkels Grill
Location: Sam Levy’s Village, Harare
Date I went there: 18/02/2018
Garfunkels Grill! This place has changed names several times over the past few years. For the longest time it was Millers Cafe, then it was called Luigi’s something or the other, and now it is Garfunkel’s Grill. I used to frequent this spot a lot during its Millers Cafe days. I loved their food and cocktails (especially the Mojitos). They had fabulous sized portions which I could never finish so I always had a little something to take home with me. I think I only went there once when it was Luigi’s and I honestly can’t remember my exprience then. I’ve been several times when the name was changed to Garfunkels Grill. I can’t really complain about much but I can say it’s not as great as it used to be. I understand our economy is upside down and that would explain the reduction in portion size I guess. The service also, is not bad, but again, not as great as it used to be.
Let’s review my last experience there shall we? I went for breakast with my mom last Sunday. I ordered the Garfunkels Grill full breakfast (2 eggs, bacon steak, pork sausage, grilled tomato, mushrooms and some chips) and my mom made up her own signature omelette with mushrooms and peppers (she had asked for tomatoes as well but they didn’t come and she wasn’t too bothered to ask a second time).
My food was ok. I can’t really complain. The portion was a good size such that I could hardly fit in a slice of toast! My mom said her omelette was ok although she had wished they could have one or two meat choices for non pork eaters like her, e.g. beef sausage or minute steak.
All in all, we had a pleasant experience and definately recommend that you check this restaurant out. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. It also seems to be a family friendly place so those of you with kiddies can be rest assured that they will be taken care of. Our waiter, Edward, has been there for ages and is absolutely fantastic. He is always friendly and gives great service.
Rating out of 10
Service: 9 (only because he forgot the tomatoes)
