We are now in the second week of January, which means the work year is back in full swing. It is also the beginning of a new school semester. My life will once again be cray-cray **sigh** I’m glad I managed to watch a few movies this holiday season, the latest one being A Simple Favour.
A Simple Favour is a dark comedy about Stephanie (Anna Kendrick), a mom who befriends her son’s friend’s mom, Emily (Blake Lively). The two women (at least in Stephanie’s head), quickly become BFF’s and have regular cocktail dates whilst their son’s have play dates. Emily suddenly disappears one day and that is when sh*t hits the fan.
What I like I about this movie is it’s unpredictability. It certainly does have interesting twists and turns. Also, Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick are an unlikely combination. Kind of the like the strange American phenomenon of a peanut butter and jelly (jam) sandwich. But, it works…somehow…I think.
The only thing I found a bit off was Emily’s husband’s (Henry Golding, yum yum) reaction to the crazy sh*t she did. I mean honestly. Whose wife steals his mother’s prized ring and he just laughs it off? That wasn’t realistic at all. (But then again, who cares, as long as we get to gawk at and drool over Henry it’s all good🤤).
Overall, this is a good movie in my opinion. It does keep you interested and wanting to know what happens next. A great way to spend your evening.

P.S. I love all the French music in this movie!
